A recent community needs survey showed that residents overwhelming desired the addition of new trails and bicycle facilities in the in the name of making the community more pedestrian friendly. Since the release of these survey results, City staff have made great strides towards completing a more robust network of bike trails in the community, completing such projects as the Sandspur Rd. Trail, the Fennell St. trail, a Greenwood Gardens connector to the Maitland Sunrail Station, a trail segment leading to the RDV Sportsplex on Keller Rd. and the completion of a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 4. In addition, planning is underway for the Westside Trail which will connect to the west side of the I-4 Pedestrian Bridge, an expansion to the boardwalk at the Maitland Community Park to facilitate the usage of bicycles at that facility, and a connection to the Winter Park trail network.
