Facility Details
Independence Square is almost two acres in size and is directly north of City Hall in downtown Maitland. It is the home of many of the primary events in the community including the Movie in the Park series, the Maitland Jazz and Blues Festival, and many others hosted by the Parks and Recreation Dept. A strong argument could be made that this park is situated on the most historical piece of property in Maitland. This property has been home to every City Hall since the town's inception, the area's first train station, and it was once home of not only the City's Fire Department and Administration, but the Maitland Police Department had also been located here until 2011. In 2020, the property was updated with new bathrooms, an attractive water feature, enhanced landscaping, and an event lawn for downtown festivals. Park hours are 8am to 10pm daily with the exception of City Recognized Holidays. This facility is not available to rent for private functions.
Note:
Park hours are listed in the "hours" tab, however, please be aware that the park will close at 8:00pm on all City recognized holidays including, but not limited to, New Years Eve, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day following Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
